jean theory: is a locally-owned and woman-owned shop that carries both new and “inherited” (gently used) designer denim, tops, dresses, and accessories. Inherited items are purchased directly from customers who are compensated upfront in either cash or “trade-in credit.”
The store’s mission is to “offer a huge selection of new and inherited designer jeans (and anything else to go with them) at great prices by friendly, helpful staff, in a fun yet professional environment,” and according to local media, it’s doing just that. jean theory: was voted runner-up in C-ville Weekly’s “Best of C-ville – Place to Buy Jeans,” which was “a surprisingly close second, considering it’s been open [just three months].” NPR featured the store as an innovative new business in a recent broadcast, stating that it “clearly understood [its] customers and their never-ending search for clothes that fit and flatter,” and even compared the concept to the start of such successful business giants as McDonald’s.
